Jonathan Cheon is a Firearms Instructor at ShootGTR. Jon is a former Marine and Department of State contractor. For the majority of his enlistment, Jon was assigned to 3rd Battalion 1st Marines Scout Sniper Platoon. Later he was assigned to 1st Marine Expeditionary Force’s Anti-Terror Cell. As a contractor, Jon provided high threat close-in protection for U.S. diplomats as a protective security specialist. Jon has 3 years combined of high threat experience in a multitude of environments and capacities. As a competitive shooter, Jon is an A classified shooter in USPSA and a semi pro in 3-Gun. Jon pairs his combat and competitive shooting experience to deliver quality and balanced lessons to his students. Jon has been instructing military and civilian students since 2011. He believes that providing a safe and relaxed environment is paramount to student learning. His methodology aims to provide a measurable impact on the student’s improvement.
